At last, our final lesson. Across the past four lessons, we talked about "keeping it safe": preparing for loss (Lesson 1), storing your seed safely (Lesson 2), reducing transfer mistakes (Lesson 3), and filtering out malicious signatures (Lesson 4). Now it's time for what you can do on top of all that: using it.
Many people buy crypto and just let it sit in a wallet. They've learned how to buy, but often aren't sure what to do next. Yet the real power of self-custody doesn't end at "storage."
Leave your assets on an exchange and what you can do is limited. But when you hold your own keys, you can connect directly to decentralized services (dApps) with them. Swaps, NFTs, DeFi — participating directly, without handing your assets to anyone else.
That's why the four lessons before this mattered. Only when you know how to keep things safe can you connect with peace of mind.
DCENT S supports 100+ networks and 4,900+ assets, including BTC, ETH, XRP, and XLM. No hopping between multiple wallets — manage it all from a single card and the DCENT app.
XRP — beyond storage, into the ecosystem
If you've held XRP for a long time, you can go beyond storing it and into XRPL ecosystem activity. DCENT continues to run activities for XRP holders through the XRP Alliance.
Stellar (XLM) — from storage to earning
Store Stellar safely, and go on to earn with it on DCENT S. The app also guides you through Stellar-specific settings like memo and TrustLine.
Other assets — connect directly via dApps
Connect to a range of blockchain services right from the DCENT app's dApp browser. Swaps, marketplaces, DeFi, all in one place.
Of course, even when connecting to new services, the habit you built in Lesson 4 still applies: giving the details one more look before you sign. That habit widens what you can safely do.
Let's go back to the beginning. Here's why we talked about loss, storage, mistakes, and scams first. "Truly owning" your crypto means both keeping it safe and using it freely. When you know how to keep it safe, you can do far more with peace of mind.
❓ Quick Quiz
Which is closest to what "truly owning your crypto" means?
① Buying as much as possible and holding for a long time ② Keeping it safe while using it freely ③ Leaving it with an exchange
② Keeping it safe while using it freely. Only when you know how to keep it safe can you enjoy it with peace of mind. That's the message these five classes wanted to share.
If you've read this far, your view of crypto has grown a good deal wider. When you know how to keep it safe, you can enjoy it with more peace of mind — and that's how you make crypto truly "yours."
