Hello, this is DCENT.
Many of you have asked whether the App Wallet asset migration action we announced applies to you. Below are the criteria for determining whether you need to act, and how to check.
1. Who needs to take action
This issue is related to the App Wallet in DCENT app versions earlier than v8.1.0. Version 8.1.0 was released on November 5, 2025, at around 07:40 UTC.
Action is required if
- You first installed the DCENT app before November 5, 2025 (a version earlier than v8.1.0), and made transactions (signed) with the App Wallet in that version
- You use the same recovery phrase (mnemonic) for your App Wallet and your hardware wallet
- You restored a pre-v8.1.0 App Wallet recovery phrase onto a hardware wallet
Action is not required if
- You first installed the DCENT app on or after November 5, 2025 (v8.1.0 or later)
- You have used the app since before November 5, 2025, but only with a hardware wallet such as the Biometric or Card wallet, have never made a transaction (signed) with the App Wallet, and none of the recovery-phrase cases above apply to you
| First installed | App Wallet usage | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Before November 5, 2025 | Made transactions (signed) with the App Wallet | Action required |
| Before November 5, 2025 | Hardware wallet only, never signed with the App Wallet, no shared recovery phrase | Not required |
| Any | Same recovery phrase for App Wallet and hardware wallet / pre-v8.1.0 App Wallet phrase restored onto a hardware wallet | Action required |
| On or after November 5, 2025 | Any | Not required |
First check whether an App Wallet is registered (Section 2). If it is, the fastest way is the Wallet Address Check in the app (Section 3). If the app cannot confirm the result, use Sections 2 and 4 to check manually.
If the action applies to you, please move your assets by following the guide below.

2. First, check whether an App Wallet is registered (Manage All Wallets)
DCENT offers three wallet types: the Biometric wallet and the Card wallet (hardware wallets), and the App Wallet (a software wallet created inside the app). This action concerns the App Wallet, so even if you mainly use a hardware wallet, please first check whether an App Wallet is registered.
- In the DCENT app, tap the wallet name at the top left of the My Wallet tab.
- Open "Manage All Wallets". Your wallets are grouped as Biometric wallet / Card wallet / App wallet.

- Look at the App wallet section.

- If you only see "Add App Wallet", no App Wallet is currently registered. If you have never used an App Wallet, the action does not apply to you. However, it does apply if you ever used an App Wallet with the same recovery phrase as your hardware wallet, or restored a pre-v8.1.0 App Wallet recovery phrase onto a hardware wallet.
- If an App Wallet is listed, run the Wallet Address Check in Section 3 to see whether the action applies. This is the case even if you mostly use a hardware wallet.
If only a hardware wallet is registered and there is no App Wallet
Even when only a hardware wallet is registered, the "Urgent Security Action Notice" pop-up appears on the first screen when you launch the app, and its button reads "Check hardware wallet". Tapping it opens the "Wallet Address Check" screen, which lists the two points below to check. (DCENT app v10.0.0 or later)
- You have used a DCENT App Wallet with the same recovery phrase (mnemonic) as the hardware wallet, and
- You have signed a transaction in that App Wallet on a version earlier than v8.1.0 (released November 5, 2025)

If both apply, the same action as for the App Wallet is needed. Tap "See asset transfer guide" and move your assets. If you are not sure whether they apply, tap "See further verification guide", which brings you to this post. For hardware wallets, the app does not check on-chain information automatically, so please confirm these two points yourself.
If you tap "Don't show for a week", the pop-up will not appear for a week, so we recommend not tapping it until you have finished checking.
3. Check directly in the app (Wallet Address Check)
When you launch the DCENT app, an "Urgent Security Action Notice" pop-up appears on the first screen. Tap "Check if action is needed" and the app checks every account address in your App Wallet to determine whether the action applies. If no App Wallet is registered, this button reads "Check hardware wallet" instead (see Section 2). After closing the pop-up, you can run the check again anytime from the "Check if affected ›" badge next to your balance in App Wallet mode.
This feature is available in DCENT app v10.0.0 or later. If you do not see the pop-up or the badge, update the app to the latest version first.
- Tap "Check if action is needed" on the first-screen pop-up, or the "Check if affected" badge on the App Wallet home screen.

- Wait on the "Wallet Address Check" screen while on-chain information is being checked. It may take a moment depending on network conditions. Do not close the app or move to another screen until the check is complete.

- Proceed according to the result screen.
| Result screen | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Asset transfer action required" | Confirmed as subject to the action | Tap "See action guide" and follow the asset migration guide |
| "We can't confirm if action is required" | Cannot be determined within what the app can check | Check manually using Sections 2 and 4 of this post. This does not mean you are safe |

If the result is "We can't confirm if action is required", it does not mean you are safe. On some networks, the information available to the app is limited, so the result may be incomplete. In that case, please check Section 2 (App Wallet registration and shared recovery phrase) and Section 4 (when you first installed the app) to determine whether the action applies.
The result also appears on the home screen. If the action applies, you will see a red "Your assets need to be moved." banner and an "Action needed" badge; if it could not be confirmed, an orange "Please review the further verification guide." banner and a "Not determined" badge. You can check it again there even after closing the check screen.

Once the action is confirmed for your wallet, the pop-up on launch shows "Your assets need to be moved." at the top and an "Asset transfer guide" button that takes you straight to the migration guide.

The "Asset transfer action required" screen may appear again even after you have completed the action. If you have already moved all your assets, there is no need to worry. On the "We can't confirm" screen, you can run the check again with "Check again".
If your app version is earlier than v10.0.0, an "Update App" button also appears on the result screen. Be sure to update first before moving any assets.
4. How to check when you first installed the app
iPhone (App Store)
App Store → profile icon in the upper right → Apps & Purchase History → search for "DCENT" in Purchase History (the app is listed as "DCENT Wallet - Secure Crypto") to see the date you first downloaded the app. Set a wide date range so that older history is shown.

In the example above, the download date is May 5, 2024, which is before November 5, 2025. If you have ever made a transaction with the App Wallet, the action applies.
Android (Google Play)
For free apps, the store often does not show the exact first installation date. You can check recent activity in Play Store → profile → Play customization → Play history, but since the DCENT app is free, the actual first installation date may be unavailable.
Checking the first installation date on screen is currently possible on iPhone only.
If you have changed phones or store accounts
If you changed phones and therefore changed the app store, or kept the same phone but changed your App Store or Google Play account, the installation date shown in your current account alone is not enough to decide. Please also check the DCENT app usage history on your previous phone or previous store account.
If, after checking both your current and previous phones and store accounts, you find no history of using the DCENT app before November 5, 2025, the action does not apply to you.
5. If you are not sure
If the Wallet Address Check in the app could not confirm the result, and you cannot clearly verify whether you used an App Wallet or shared a recovery phrase, or when you first installed the app, we recommend treating yourself as subject to the action and moving your assets. Erring on the side of safety costs you nothing.

6. Beware of impersonation and phishing
DCENT never asks for your recovery phrase (mnemonic) or private key, and never asks you to send assets to a specific wallet address for asset recovery or compensation. Please do not follow any instructions received via DM, email, or social media outside official channels.

Thank you.
